Description

A number of studies show the advantages of using student groups to promote engagement and learning during class time. But navigating such a social dynamic in class can seem daunting. In this session we will share best practices for getting started in using group work. We will discuss appropriate learning goals for group work, various ways to structure groups, ways to circumvent common problems, and strategies to hold students accountable. Faculty new to group work may find this session provides valuable background to the sessions with Elizabeth Barkley on October 8th.  Lunch will be provided.
