Description

Active Learning, Inquiry Teaching Kick-Off Retreat

Would you like to help more of your STEM students learn science and learn how to think like scientists? This half-day session, the kick-off event for the new certificate program in Active Learning, Inquiry Teaching, will provide evidence-based suggestions and activities for how to do just that. The certificate program is designed to support faculty in adopting teaching approaches that foster the retention of students in STEM majors and support the development of their students as STEM professionals. The certificate program is open to all instructional faculty – tenured/tenure-track, lecturers, and adjunct - who teach courses in the College of Natural and Mathematical Sciences (CNMS) and the College of Engineering and Information Technology (COEIT) and is funded by the Colleges, the FDC, and the NIH-funded STEM BUILD at UMBC initiative. All faculty interested in the certificate program are strongly encouraged to attend the retreat. Lunch is provided.

DEADLINE TO REGISTER:  FRIDAY, SEPTEMBER 4th
